Fabric & Re-Upholstry
After you’ve answered these questions it gives you so much more information when looking at your options and allows you to make a good decision based up what fabrics will hold up best with your usage.
Here is some information about certain common fabrics used that will hopefully help you in your decision making. Many fabrics you will look at will have cotton in it. Cotton is used in many different fabrics because it is quite durable and can be often found in draperies or pillows. Linen is another popular fabric. It does have the tendency to wrinkle very easily so it is best suited for pieces that will not be moved much. Velvet is a very sumptuous fabric that when properly cared for can last a very long time. Silk is an extremely delicate fabric that can be used to create a beautiful and delicate touch, however, it fades very quickly in the sun and is easily stained. If you have small children or pets silk may not be your friend. Leather, faux leather and recycled leather is very popular and provides a rich element to any home. Leather does require a bit more care. It will fade in direct sunlight and also can be stained or scratched very easily. But these are just a few of your fabric options.
